The streets of San Francisco are a little bit safer tonight after a day of heroism from the city’s newest superhero – Bat Kid. Meet 5 year old Miles Scott, a brave little boy who was diagnosed with leukemia at only 18 months old (Miles is currently in remission). On Friday Miles had his wish – to be his favorite superhero – granted. He spent the day exploring San Francisco with Batman, stopping villains like the Riddler and Penguin, and even rescuing damsels in distress.  Crowds flocked to the San Francisco streets to catch a glimpse of the Bat Kid, and cheers of ‘Bat Kid! Bat Kid’ could be heard everywhere. Miles even caught the attention of the President Barrack Obama! The President issued a Vine video with a congratulatory message for our little hero!

Check out the President’s video here!

It’s safe to say that Miles will never forget the day he was able to save ‘Gotham’! What a great wish!

It’s an amazing feeling to know that we help kids just like Miles, right here in the Cedar Valley. Every time we put on an event, or we promote our organization, when we get new members – We are one step closer to our goal of granting a wish. Never forget that this is our end goal. The smile of a child. That’s what we’re working towards. That’s why we rake leaves at 8:00 in the morning in October and that’s why, on December 7th, we’ll be at HuHot Mongolian Grill (College Square Mall) at 7:30 a.m, flipping pancakes instead of sleeping soundly in our beds. Because it’s worth it. They’re worth it. The Wish kids are worth it – every single time. We have the power to change lives, to make dreams a reality, to make wishes come true – right here, right now, in Northern Iowa. That’s what we do, it’s who we are. Northern Iowa Wishmakers.
